Google on Oct. 13 widened access to Gemini 4 Argon, its newest top-tier AI model, making it available to developers, businesses and paying consumers, according to posts on the company's blog.
The release expands on a Sept. 30 unveiling in which Google gave the model only to a limited group of cybersecurity partners, the data science site Let's Data Science reported.
Where it is available
According to Google:
- Developers can use it through the paid tier of the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and in Android Studio.
- Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can use it in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search.
- Ultra subscribers also get it in Antigravity, Google's agent-focused coding tool.
The company said it will give 10,000 selected scientists free access to its top Antigravity tier for six months.
Pricing and claims
| | Through Nov. 30 | After | |---|---|---| | Input, per million tokens | $2 | $4 | | Output, per million tokens | $10 | $20 |
In a post by Koray Kavukcuoglu, Google DeepMind's senior vice president, the company said the model is built for long, multi-step work in coding, finance, law, cybersecurity and science. Google said it ranked first on the Vals Index, a benchmark of professional tasks, and resisted prompt-injection attacks better than rival systems.
Those results are reported by Google and its partners and have not been independently verified. Let's Data Science noted that Google's model card also lists limitations, including hallucinations and occasional timeouts.
Google said it tested the model under its Frontier Safety Framework and added layered defenses against misuse. Vetted cyber defenders can apply to use it without the usual cybersecurity guardrails.
