Malott knocks out Buckley in Edmonton; Jasudavicius upsets Blanchfield

Canadian fighters swept the top two bouts at UFC Fight Night in Edmonton on Saturday night.

Published

Mike Malott gave a hometown crowd at Rogers Place exactly what it came for Saturday, knocking out Joaquin Buckley in the second round of the UFC Fight Night main event in Edmonton.

Malott, the No. 13-ranked welterweight from Fonthill, Ontario, ended it with a knee and follow-up punch at 2:32 of the second round, Yahoo Sports' Uncrowned reported. CBS Sports said Buckley fell face-first and was slow to get back up. The win lifts Malott to 15-2-1, while Buckley, ranked 10th coming in, dropped his third straight fight, according to Uncrowned.

Upset in the co-main

Ontario's Jasmine Jasudavicius took a unanimous decision from Erin Blanchfield, the fourth-ranked women's flyweight, with all three judges scoring it 29-28. CBS Sports said Jasudavicius controlled much of the fight on the mat. Uncrowned called it the biggest win of her career and her seventh in eight fights.
